Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the SEO Orbit - Instant Page Audit Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles your information when you use it.
2. Information We Collect
The Extension collects minimal data, and only with your explicit consent.
- Anonymous Device ID: A randomly generated UUID stored in your browser. This is not linked to your identity, account, or any personal information.
- User Activity: When you run a scan, we record the total issue count and which categories had issues (e.g. meta, images, links). The actual page content is never collected.
- URL Path: The URL of scanned page (e.g.
site.com/blog/my-post). - Location: Your approximate location (country and region level only) is inferred from your IP address by our analytics server. We do not store your full IP address.
- Extension & Browser Info: Extension version, browser version, and OS. Used for compatibility and bug fixes.
- Preferences: Your display settings and analytics consent choice are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted.
All analytics collection requires your explicit consent during the onboarding screen. You can change your choice at any time in the Extension settings.
3. How Information Is Used
Your information is used solely to:
- Understand how the Extension is being used so we can improve it
- Count unique installs and active users
- Identify which features are most used
- Fix bugs and ensure compatibility across browser versions
We do not use your data for advertising or tracking.
4. Data Storage
- Local data (preferences, consent choice, device ID) is stored in your browser via
chrome.storage.sync. - Analytics data (scan activity, install events) is sent to our server at
analytics.ninefoldyash.comonly when you have granted consent. - Page content, full URLs, and personal information are never stored anywhere.
5. Data Sharing
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Share your data with third parties
- Use your data for marketing or advertising purposes
Analytics data is stored on our own server and is used exclusively for improving the Extension.
6. Permissions
The Extension requests the following browser permissions strictly to enable its core functionality:
- activeTab: To access the page you choose to audit.
- scripting: To inject the auditor script into the active page DOM to read SEO data.
- storage: To save your preferences and consent choice across sessions.
- tabs: To read the current page URL and display the hostname in the popup.
- host permissions (
<all_urls>): Required because users can audit any website. The script only reads the page DOM and never modifies it or transmits its content.
None of these permissions are used to collect personal data.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Analytics data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Your Control
You have full control over your data:
- You can enable or disable analytics at any time from the Extension settings page
- You can uninstall the Extension to remove all locally stored data
- Disabling analytics stops all future data collection immediately
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the Extension or on the associated website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
